Drive of Clio or Thalia

Control of one CellMembra or CellRetention

Clotho is a single channel Drive Unit for either of;

  • one Clio diaphragm One-way-Single-Use-Pump (O-SUP) integrated with the CellMembra P-SUB
  • one Thalia diaphragm Alternating-Single-Use-Exchanger (A-SUE) integrated with the CellRetention P-SUB.

Both for cultivating mammalian cells in a semi Continuous Process.

Clotho-1 software is loaded into the very compact Drive Unit capable of supporting both the Clio type of One-way-Single-Use-Pump and the Thalia Alternating-Single-Use-Pump.

Clio and Thalia may be integrated with a Single-Use-Bioreactor (SUB) for high density cell cultivation operating in perfusion mode. Such as the CellMembra or CellRetention product. The P-SUB integrates with either Clio or Thalia (O-SUP or A-SUP), the Hollow-Fiber-Filter (HFF), the Single-Use-Sensor's (SUS) - all in one package ready to use. Clotho control accurately the pumped or exchanged volume and the velocity of the feedstock passing the HFF.

Driving the diaphragm O-SUP's / A-SUP's requires pressure above and (vacuum) below atmospheric pressure. The drive gas pressure and mass-flow is continuously adjusted via a set of proportional valves inside Clotho. Intelligent software with advanced PID algorithms get information from LASER and pressure sensor's.

Right; Typical setup with one Alagonia for supply of vacuum (or even two Alagonia pumps for both vacuum and pressure) and one Sarpedon reservoir.

When Clotho is connected to gas supply from both a pressure and vacuum source with sufficient capacity, then the spec is:

  • Drive of one Clio O-SUP or one Thalia A-SUP ranging sizes M80, M100 or M140
  • Pumped volume (Cardiac Output, CO) according to stroke length and cell size
  • Stroke length, %: 1 – 100
  • Clotho inform continuously about velocity according to HFF spec input, m/sec: 0.1 – 10

Please check:

Supply gas is defined as: 1 - "Supply gas pressure" and; 2 - "Supply gas vacuum". Sufficient supply is when the volume (measure in "normal liter/min") of both pneumatic pressure and vacuum quality is 1-2 times the planned CO in "nl/min" at specified pressures.

Suitable supply gas pump's, also in Hephaestus cabinet's are Alagonia. Check also out the Sarpedon reservoir stabilizing pressure/vacuum and reduce supply pulsation when several O-SUPs or A-SUPs operate on the same source of supply gas.

Clotho can off course be driven by in lab installed pneumatic air and vacuum
