Functional PerfuseCell accessories
The Heating-Support-Foot is fully interchangeable between the 2 different product ranges based on the same P-SUB-3 liter vessel size being OD137 mm. Its all Plug & Play between CellMembra / Integrated and CellRetention / SUBmerged. In practice the Working Volume of both P-SUBs range from 400 ml to 2,500 ml though depending on chosen impeller and sensors.
Thermal control with HSF
The Heating-Support-Foot (HSF) improves vastly mechanical stability for light weight 3 liter P-SUB operating in specific with partly small volumes or/and a heavy servo motor on the head plate. The HSF is manufactured partly from Aluminum and designed to be bolted onto the Magnetic-Stirrer-Table (MST) when Magnetic-Bottom-Drive (MBD) is selected.
The HSF design gives these benefits:
- encapsulates 90 % of the SUB bottom circumference allowing a vessel bottom outlet such as for the CellMembra-3 Integrated P-SUB
- as to the 35 mm HSF height allows visual inspection of the broth
- the entire bottom area of the SUB is resting on a Titanium disc allowing increased thermal transfer
- the ALU body integrate two heating rods for very fast thermal control
CellMembra-3 Integrated TFF + TM80 + InCyte in HSF on MST
3 liter P-SUB warm in HSF
CellRetention-3 Traditional in MST + HSF + Thalia TM80
Heating-Support-Foot (HSF) beautifully bolts onto the MST. Here the MST is driven by a Papst from Sartorius BioStat and a Teknic servo motor from the G3 PCS. Infrared camera photo show perfect temperature distribution inside the P-SUB. Same setup works equally well for CellMembra and CellRetention in the HSF.
Thermal control with SUJ
When P-SUBs or B-SUBs are equipped with Single-Use-Jacket (SUJ) these 90° connection examples improve a long-time use. The red nut on the hose is GL18 glass thread commonly used on STR. The round connector part on the SUJ host G3/8” thread.
Seen here the OD137 mm B-SUB designed for liquid thermal control. Added is the additional Single-Use-Jacket (SUJ) with non-symmetrical arranged inlet - outlet. Keep inlet at bottom.
The upper round disc connector glued on the RUJ tube benefit from 90° angled re-useable connector with dual O-ring for easier adjustment – tighten gently by hand – NO tools needed. Hose with red GL18 nut pointing down avoiding bending the hose. Connect the thermal control circuit before adding media. Check out that all air bubbles are returned to BioStat – manual help by tilting the B-SUB.
