Thalia A-SUP keep the HFF clean in ATF mode

Thalia A-SUP keep the HHF clean as to sequential selectable fluid velocities

Thalia is an Alternating-Single-Use-Pump = A-SUP. A reciprocating fluid exchanger which give CellRetention Perfusion-SUB package its unique properties.

The desktop size Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos Drive Units gives the LASER guided Thalia A-SUP its ground-breaking performance. Clotho software measures via the LASER sensor the position of the free-flowing elastic diaphragm in real-time. The result is an Air-Operated-Diaphragm-Positive-Displacement (AODPD) Single-Use-Pump. Allowing end-user to choose freely volume to be conveyed and velocities to clean the HFF regularly.

Thalia innovative technical functionality

  • Thalia keep the HFF (Hollow-Fibre-Filter) clean, free from fouling issues by programmable sequential selectable high fluid velocity flushing out debris securing optimum HFF performance and secure process time with a single HFF
  • Thalia exchanges a selectable specific fluid volume ranging with from 0 to >10 m/sec fluid velocity through the HFF module from feed inlet to retentate outlet independent of HFF pressure drop
  • The Alternating-Single-Use-Pump (A-SUP) feature a position controlled free-floating elastic silicone diaphragm - no motors, no gearboxes, no rollers, no mass-flow sensor - required
  • Thalia do not convey fluid like a centrifugal pump – but exchange forth and back the desired, programmed fluid volume and velocity (m/s) at the desired Beat-per-Minute (BpM) and stroke volume (SV)
  • Thalia A-SUP is connected directly to the Hollow-Fiber-Filter (HFF) module
  • Thalia features the re-usable LASER sensing diaphragm position giving outstanding performance and accuracy
  • The high precision LASER sensor measures constantly and accurate the position of the diaphragm, allowing Clotho software to display desired conditions for exchanged broth volumes and velocities in real-time
  • Thalia can facilitate and control the TMP, Trans-Membrane-Pressure

Ground breaking user features are:

  • Thalia handle fluids = liquids and gases in any mix
  • Thalia easily sucks fluids from low arranged bioreactors or deep tubes
  • Thalia is also a metering pump = PD (Positive Displacement) pump = 1% accurate liquid mass-flow detection
  • Thalia do NOT need any mass-flow sensor to measure mass-flow - Thalia measures constantly mass-flow in real-time
  • Thalia do NOT need frequent (or any) calibration like peristaltic pumps
  • Thalia do NOT loose nano size silicone particles to the fluid like peristaltic pumps
  • Thalia do NOT create shear forced destroying mammalian cells
  • Thalia is both an Alternating and gentle Pulsating fluid pump allowing new dynamics in avoiding HFF deposits, fouling via accurately controlled volumes and velocities passing through the HFFs lumen

The basics in operation is copied from the human heart functionality

  • Cardiac Output (CO) = total pumped volume, SUP capacity, mL/min (CO = BpM x SV)
  • Beats-per-Minute (BpM) = ranging 0 - 15 BpM, SUP diameter/stroke/volume depending
  • Stroke Volume (SV) = programable from 0 - 100% of SUP capacity
  • Velocities ranging from very low to more than 10 m/sec
