Design

Clotho-1 is a very compact control unit supporting the Clio type of Single-Use-Pump.

Clio is integrated with the Perfusion-Single-Use-Bioreactor (P-SUB's) for high cell density cultivation operating in perfusion mode. Such as the CellMembra (size mini or medium) product available by PerfuseCell. The P-SUB integrate the Clio diaphragm Single-Use-Pump (SUP), the Cross-Flow-Filter (CFF), the Single-Use-Sensors (SUS) - all in one package ready to use. Clotho control accurately the pumped volume and the velocity of the broth passing through the CFF.

Driving Clio SUP's requires pressure above and vacuum below atmospheric pressure. The SUP drive gas pressure is continuously adjusted via a set of proportional valves inside Clotho. Intelligent microprocessor with advanced PID algorithms get information from Laser and pressure sensor's.

Specification

When Clotho is connected to gas supply from both a pressure and vacuum source with sufficient capacity, then the spec is:

  • Drive of one Clio SUP cell
  • Pumped volume (Cardiac Output/C=) according to stroke length and cell size
  • Stroke length, %: 10 – 100 in 10% jumps
  • Clotho inform continuously about velocity according to CFF input, m/s: 0,1 – 15

Supply gas is defined as: 1 - "Supply gas pressure" and; 2 - "Supply gas vacuum". Sufficient supply is when the volume (measure in "normal liter/min") of both pneumatic pressure and vacuum quality is 1-2 times the planned CO in "nl" at specified pressures. 

Suitable supply gas pump's, also in Hephaestus cabinet's are Alagonia. Check also out the Sarpedon reservoir stabilizing pressure/vacuum and reduce pulsation when several Clio SUPs operate on the same source of supply gas. 

Clotho can off course be driven by in lab installed pneumatic air and vacuum
